Happy New Year! For 2022 we are celebrating food and wine from a different country each month.
Ole! Kicking off this fun monthly celebration with - SPAIN! Going back to our tapas roots and namesake "el Tufo", January brings forth delicious new flavors. My last visit to Barcelona was in 2009 where I strolled through markets, absorbing all the fresh aromas and vibrant colors I could. I reminisce those flavors through "Conservas", a popular staple in Spain, but not too favored in the US...yet. It is slowly becoming appreciated as American diners realize we are not talking about your average can of fish. Try this authentic olive-oil preserved seafood (which I find exude remarkable flavors). We chose Matiz as the tinned expert and am pairing Sardinas (spicy or regular sardines), Mejillones (mussels), and Pulpa (octopus) with bread, sea salt, and pickled accompaniments.
Other select dishes are gluten-free Albondigas, made with pork rinds, chorizo and beef. Chorizo con Patatas- simple yet spiced up with our house Pasilla Creme. Olives, served warmed with almonds or as a tapenade. Simple. Flavorful. Timeless dishes that we proudly celebrate. (Tapas served after 4pm)
With guests asking about wine tasting on a regular basis, we decided it was long overdue to finally say "YES". Wine Club Members will journey through the Spanish regions with an exclusive tasting first, then on January 26th 5p-8p we welcome all to come sip and savor. Reservations are a must, so gather your friends, choose a date, or spoil yourself. Salud!
